Course Overview
Food safety and hygiene ratings frequently make headlines. Social media and local news often highlight the hygiene ratings of nearby establishments, with lower scores receiving the most attention. Proper food safety and hygiene training is essential not just for businesses with kitchens, but also for those selling pre-packaged food, helping to protect your business from negative publicity.
Ensure your staff understand their responsibilities in maintaining food safety with a course created by world-renowned food safety expert Richard Sprenger and accredited by the UK’s leading organization for regulated food safety qualifications.
This online food safety and hygiene course is perfect for individuals working with pre-packaged foods or in low-risk catering environments. No prior knowledge is required, although a basic understanding of food safety principles is helpful.
By law, food businesses must ensure that all staff have received appropriate food safety and hygiene training relevant to their role and level of risk. This course serves as an excellent induction for those gaining work experience in the food industry and is ideal for anyone interested in learning the basic principles of food safety and hygiene.
The course is designed for employees who do not handle high-risk foods but work in environments where food is handled by others or are involved with low-risk foods and pre-packaged items. It's also ideal for home cooks who want to deepen their understanding of food safety.
Our courses make even complex topics easy to understand with media-rich content and engaging exercises. The Food Safety Level 1 course includes:
- Interactive exercises and gaming
- Media-rich content
- 3D interactive scenarios
- Expert-created content
- Relevant photography and illustrations
- Multi-generational style and approach
We are dedicated to raising food hygiene standards. Our courses improve knowledge, and when applied, contribute to enhanced food hygiene levels.
If you work in a low-risk catering environment or are simply looking to expand your food safety knowledge as a hobby, this course is perfect for you. However, if you are involved in food preparation in a business setting, higher-level training is required.
For most food handlers in catering or retail environments, the Food Safety Level 2 e-learning course is ideal. If you work in food manufacturing, the Food Safety in Manufacturing Level 2 course is more suitable. Supervisors and managers need to be trained at a higher level, and the Food Safety Level 3 e-learning course is designed for this purpose. It is also beneficial for small business owners.
This e-learning course is CPD-accredited, and upon completion (after February 5, 2019), learners are entitled to 5 CPD points. More information is available at https://cpduk.co.uk/explained.
Our Learning Management System (LMS) provides detailed reports, allowing trainers and managers to track progress and ensure the course is completed to meet business and training needs.
At the end of the course, learners are assessed through multiple-choice questions, and a 100% score is required to pass. Learners who don’t achieve 100% can review the material and retake the assessment as many times as needed to pass.
Please note that this course does not offer a formal qualification but meets mandatory training requirements. To obtain a recognized Level 1 food safety qualification, you must take an exam with an accredited training provider (though the e-learning can serve as the knowledge component).
Upon successful completion, learners will immediately receive an electronic certificate. This certificate, equivalent to the old basic food hygiene certificate, can be printed and used as evidence of training in food hygiene at the appropriate level.
